aw was, above all, a specialist on the BNA Act. This paper, drawing upon un
published diaries, papers and personal interviews, reviews Scott's poetry,
socialist politics and his major law cases, his work for English language r
ights on behalf of the Montreal School Board, his position on the invocatio
n of the War Measures Act and his role in the repatriation of the Canadian
Constitution in 1982. Scott's shaping influence on Canadian political and l
egal constitutional policy, through former Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau
, is indicated.
