Abstract
Cyclodextrins act as inverse phase transfer catalysts in the oxidation of m ethyl ketones by hypochloride (the haloform reaction). The reaction is affe cted by the choice and the amount of cyclodextrin. The reaction proceeds un der mild reaction conditions and it provides only the corresponding carboxy lic acid as reaction product. No organic solvent is required.
