We observed an intermolecular energy transfer from polydihexylsilane (PDHS)
to poly bis(p-propoxyphenyl)silane (PBPPS) in both PDHS/PBPPS double layer
and blend films by utilizing photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy for the f
irst time. Decrease in the intensity of PDHS emission and increase in that
of PBPPS emission occurred in the PDHS/PBPPS double layer film. In case of
the PDHS/PBPPS blend film, unusual conformational change in the backbone of
PDHS was observed due to the co-existence of PBPPS molecules. The PL excit
ation spectra and time resolved PL measurement indicate that the resonant e
nergy transfer process dominates the entire transfer process. (C) 2000 Else
