Abstract
We investigate, both experimentally and theoretically, electroabsorption (E A) spectra of poly(p-phenylene vinylene) over a wide spectral region in ord er to clarify the nature of multiple absorption bands in visible-UV region. Observed EA spectra and their polarization dependence of poly[2-metoxy,5-( 2'-ethyl-hexoxy)-1,4 phenylene vinylene] (MEH-PPV) are compared with the ca lculated spectra within the single configuration-interaction method.
