Abstract
Wave packet transit at various positions on the adiabatic potential surface has been observed in self-trapped excitons in halogen-bridged Pt complex a s a modulation in luminescence intensity. The time development of the lumin escence intensity has been successfully interpreted in terms of damped osci llation of a Gaussian-shaped wave packet on a parabolic adiabatic potential .
