Abstract
The fluorescence properties of Cr3+ in optical waveguides of doped alumina prepared by sol-gel or pulsed laser deposition (PLD) are compared with thos e of Cr-doped alumina powders obtained by sol-gel method and having gamma, theta and alpha crystalline phases. Cr3+ is located in gamma crystallites i n sol-gel films but the three phases are present in PLD films. (C) 2000 Els evier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
