Abstract
The study of complex flows raises many issues of general interest to the ma thematician including, for instance, questions of asymptotic description of the high Weissenberg number limit, corner singularities, and instability a nd qualitative dynamics. This review presents a nontechnical account of rec ent progress and open questions in this field. (C)2000 Elsevier Science B.V . All rights reserved.
