Abstract
The Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of a novel crowned [60]fuller o-pyrrolidine (CFP) were produced in different conditions. Macroscopic seco nd-harmonic generation of the LB film was investigated by means of AM1 Hami ltonian as well as experiments, The monolayer LB film displayed a periodic fringe pattern. A linear dependence of second-harmonic intensity on the num ber of layers was observed. The second-order molecular susceptibility chi(( 2)) and hyperpolarizability beta were evaluated to he 3.2 x 10(-8) and 8.3 x 10(-29) esu. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
