Abstract
A high-performance thin-layer chromatographic (HPTLC) method has been devel oped for assay of ibuprofen in newly formulated liquorice-containing tablet s. Separation of the analyte from matrix components was accomplished within 50 mm migration distance and 15 min migration time on silica gel 60 HPTLC layers with toluene-acetone-formic acid, 70 + 28 + 2 (v/v), as mobile phase . Quantitative evaluation was by measurement of fluorescence quenched zones by ultraviolet absorption scanning densitometry at lambda = 230 nm, The pr ocedure was fully validated according to the Guidelines of the Internationa l Conference on Harmonization (ICH) [1,2].
