Acute appendicits is one of the most common surgical diseases. Nevertheless
, preoperative diagnostic reliability is poor compared to other indications
necessitating operative procedures. Seldom anomalies of the vermiform appe
ndix are found, agenesis of the appendix is extremely rare. We describe a c
ase of a 33-year old patient with all clinical signs of acute appendicitis,
who intraoperatively presented with agenesis of the vermiform appendix wit
hout any other anomalies.
