For the intermetallic compounds RNi (R: Pr, Nd), the specific heat measurem
ents were conducted with an adiabatic method and the lambda-type transition
s were observed at the Curie temperature 20 and 27 K, respectively. The mag
netic contribution components were estimated from the total specific heat.
We discussed the relation among the Crystalline Electric Field (CEF) effect
and the Schottky type specific heat on the basis of the Stevens' operator
equivalents method.
