Abstract
A novel wavelength converter exploiting Ken-due birefringence in a standard DS fiber based on a Kerr shutter architecture is proposed. A brief compari son with other common path configurations is presented. Wavelength conversi on at 3 Gbit/s is achieved by employing standard EDFA for drive signal ampl ification.
