Abstract
The Weisskopf-Wigner solution of a two-level decay is extended to a simple three-level model. We calculate the influence of daughter state decay on th e decay rate of the initial state. We show that this effect is dependent on the exact form of the spectral density functions, precluding a general qua ntum Zeno effect. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
