Abstract
The need for crop load reduction to improve fruit size and consistency of c ropping on plum and apricot trees is discussed. Three alternative strategie s of achieving this objective are described: by inhibition of flowering, pr evention of fruit set or stimulation of increased fruitlet abscission. Meth ods of achieving each of these strategies, by manual, mechanical or chemica l means are discussed and evaluated.
