The intermode interaction of position-mismatched dark solitary waves w
as studied numerically in the frame of coupled nonlinear Schrodinger e
quations. In opposition to the case of bright solitons, a bound state
was not established even though an attractive interaction between the
modes induced an oscillating motion. However, a dynamic soliton was fo
und to be generated when the strength of the cross-phase modulation wa
s equal to that of the self-phase modulation, Modal analysis showed th
at the dynamic soliton was composed of bright and dark solitary waves.
