Tk. Lim et al., CERENKOV-TYPE 2ND-HARMONIC GENERATION WITH A NONLINEAR ORGANIC POLYMER WAVE-GUIDE, Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 30(3), 1997, pp. 544-549
We realized experimentally a Cerenkov-type second-harmonic wave genera
ted by a Nd:YAG laser (lambda = 1064-nm) in film slab waveguides made
of corona-poled Poly (Disperse Red1 Methacrylate-Co-Methyl Methacrylat
e). The dependence of the conversion efficiency on the waveguide thick
ness was studied, and we found that there was a single generalized cur
ve for the conversion efficiency for different input powers and that t
he effect of multiple reflections, as well as an increase in the power
density in the waveguide, strongly enhanced in the second-harmonic ge
neration conversion efficiency. The largest conversion efficiency was
found to be about 10(-5) at a him thickness of 0.91 mu m.
