Abstract
Cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate mediated addition of azide to cinnamic esters, acids and alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones, followed by reaction with sodium acetate afforded the alpha-azidocinnamates, beta-azidostyrenes and alpha-az ido-alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones, respectively, in good yields.
