The paper concerns the hydraulic impact within the diesel high-pressure pip
es. Impulse generated by the pump plunger propagates through the pipe at th
e velocity of sound in form of a pressure wave. When computing the phenomen
on of wave propagation within high-pressure delivery pipes, the fact that t
he flow is both unsteady and turbulent, must be taken into account. As the
pipe length is much greater than the pipe diameter, the flow may be conside
red single-dimensional. For the computation we apply the theory of hydrauli
c impacts within the high-pressure pipes.
