Abstract
Due to the use of the mixed boundary elements in viscous flow computation u sing the Boundary-Domain Integral Method with the Subdomain Technique the f inal discretised matrix system is large, sparse and over-determined. The ge neral least squares method for dense matrices demands large memory and CPU resources. As an alternative, an iterative least squares method with diagon al preconditioning is used. The velocity profiles computed with this, FEM a nd FVM are compared to benchmark valves for a driven cavity Re = 1000.
