Shape optimal design of elastic space frames with kinematically non-linear
response is considered. A space frame structure is treated as to be assembl
ed from several frame design elements each of them being defined as a skele
ton Eying on a rational Bezier patch. The design variables may influence th
e control points and weights of each patch, the cross-sectional quantities
of beam elements as well as support parameters. Only a small set of design
variables is usually enough to assure a good design flexibility.
