Abstract
New asymmetrical midazo[3,2-a]/pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyridinium/quinolinium br omide iodide 1[4(1)]-monomethine cyanines: 1[2(4)]-trimethine cyanines and/or 1-styryl cyanines were synthesized to study their spectral beh aviour, solvatochromism, mixed solvents, and acid-base properties. The se dyes are characterized by elemental analysis, IR, H-1 NMR, and elec tronic absorption spectra.
