Using the ideas of shadow wavefunctions, we propose a new form for the
ground state of droplets of He-4. The shadow-shadow interaction is mo
dified to reflect the variation of local density in an inhomogeneous s
ystem. We can thereby get a bound state without one-body form factors.
When the cluster is large, the bulk wavefunction is restored. The bin
ding energy of the system is in satisfactory agreement with previous c
omputations.
