This study is based on a retrospective analysis of the medical files of 20
patients who presented urinary stress incontinence corrected by Bonney's pr
ocedure. Treatment consisted of a modified Pereyra-Raz percutaneous colposu
spension in 16 patients, and Gittes percutaneous bladder neck suspension in
four patients. The analysis was carried out 3.5 years on average post-surg
ery (range 2-6 years). In sixteen out of 20 (80%) subjects, the operative r
esults were fully successful; in 3 patients some improvement was observed,
although there was some urinary incontinence on effort; one patient present
ed recurrence of incontinence within the first 6 post-operative months, and
required further surgery, so was fitted with a suburethral sling which all
owed definitive correction of the disorder. (C) 2000 Editions scientifiques
