Life-time of pesticides in aquatic ecosystems is an important ecologic
al characteristic, closely connected with the effective rate constant
of its degradation in either natural basins or waterflows. Parameter k
(eff) may be presented as a sum of the effective rate constants of pes
ticide degradation independent one from another and on the degradation
canals: k(eff) = Sigma k(i)(phi), where k(i)(phi) is the effective ra
te constant of pesticide degradation in the i canal, as a function of
the natural conditions. The canals of pesticides chemical transformati
on in aquatic ecosystems are evidenced by hydrolysis, direct and sensi
bilized photolysis, redox reactions, involving participation of free r
adical. The present paper proposes a methodological scheme for pestici
des' chemical transformation, based on both laboratory experiments and
literature data.
