LEPIDOPTERAN FAUNA OF THE CERVENE VRCHY MOUNTAINS (THE TATRAS NATIONAL-PARK)

Investigations of tile Lepidoptera fauna were carried out in the Cerve ne vrchy mountains (a limestone part of the Tatras) from 1990 to 1994. Lepidoptera were collected in three different habitats: 1 - wet meado ws near Tomanovsky potok brook (altitude 1,200-1,500 m), 2 - subalpine meadows on limestone (altitude 1,300-1,600 m), and 3 - alpine rocky m eadows on limestone (altitude 1,600-2,000 m). In total, 160 Lepidopter a species from 28 families were found in the study area. The Cervene v rchy mountains are the only known place of the occurrence of Elachista parasella (Elachistidae), Scythris oelandicella (Scythrididae) and Gl acies coracina (Geometridae).
