Abstract
The efficiency of three trap types: ground traps (GT), soil photoeclec tors (PHOT) and Malaise traps (MT) in the investigation of the species composition and seasonal dynamics of weevil (Coleoptera, (Curculionid ae) communities at Devinska Kobyla hill (the Male Karpaty mountains) w as compared. Out of the 91 weevil species collected in 1994, 59. 47 ki lled 9 species were caught using MT, GT and PHOT, respectively. As for the number of weevils caught, GT were the most efficient (3-4 ind./da y), followed by MT and PHOT (1.7 and 0.4 ind./day, respectively). Out of abiotic factors, precipitation affected most the catch size in GT a nd MT.
