Abstract
A new, compact folded line configuration for rat-race hybrid couplers is pr oposed. Simple design equations are presented for the single and double C-s ection folded line structures. The new configuration exhibits four- to five fold reduction in footprint as compared to the conventional rat-race config uration. The design is validated both by using the full-wave electromagneti c simulator and with measurement.
