Abstract
We present and experimentally demonstrate simple relationships between the refractive index modulation, the chirp-rate or dispersion and the transmiss ion loss through, and reflection of, chirped Bragg gratings, and apply them to the design of a new type of gain flattening filter with incorporated di spersion compensation.
