Role of proton transfer reactions in the thermolysis of alkyl and arylammonium salts

The thermolysis of nitrate, perchlorate, sulfate and chloride salts of vari ous alkyl and arylamines have been reviewed in the present article. The mec hanistic aspects of thermal decomposition have been described critically. I t has been observed that proton transfer reactions do play a major role dur ing the thermolysis of these salts.
