Many are the dairy products commercialized in Campania Region which are col
lected by the Sanitary Office and sent to our Institute for Brucella spp re
search. To verify the existence of a possible igienic sanitary problem due
to the presence of the bacterium in these food products 150 samples of soft
cheese (mozzarella) and 100 samples of soft white unsalted cheese were ana
lyzed by PCR. The final results, identical to those obtained with tradition
al methods of analysis, point out the absolute absence of bacteria in the s
amples.
