wMono- and dinuclear nickel(II) complexes with N3O asymmetrical Schiff base
s have been prepared and characterised. The ligands used here were obtained
by condensation of the amine 7-amino-4-methyl-5-aza-3-hepten-2-one (HAE) a
nd 4(5)-imidazolecarboxaldehyde or 2-acetylpyrazine, to yield the isolated
Schiff bases H(2)AE4(5)Im and HAEPyz, respectively. Physicochemical data (m
ean) indicate that all the complexes are quasi square planar. The X-ray cry
stal structure of [Ni(AEPyz)]ClO4 is reported, whose NiN3O cromophore is re
markably square planar. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
