Abstract
Khalatnikov's1 nonlinear wave steepening coefficient epsilon(T) has be en measured nearer to T(lambda) than has been previously reported by o bserving the evolution of large amplitude second sound. Both positive and negative temperature excursions have been observed between 1.88K a nd T(lambda) (the nonclassical wave steepening regime) where epsilon i s negative.
