A group of binary oxide nanophase materials were prepared using a microwave
assisted soft-chemical route. BaTiO3, Ba6Ti17O40, BaZrO3 and PbTiO3 were p
repared from BaCl2 hydrate, Pb(Ac)(2), Ti(OPri)(4) and ZrOCl2. All reaction
s were performed in ethylene glycol, which acted as both a solvent and a gr
owth regulating agent, under atmospheric pressure in a microwave reactor. T
he products that were obtained were analyzed by using XRD, TEM, XPS, EDX an
d FT-IR.
