The flux distribution in slab lattices and the disadvantage factor are calc
ulated for a moderator with anisotropic scattering and its external surface
s with reflection coefficient R less than or equal to 1. Three coupled inte
gral equations for the fluxes in the fuel and the moderator are obtained. T
he Galerkin method is used to solve the coupled equation. Numerical calcula
tions and comparison for isotropic scattering indicate that the approach is
