Resin injection processes (e.g., RTM) are taking on ever greater importance
in the production of structural parts made of fibre-plastic composites (FP
Cs). Further development of these production methods is critically dependen
t on the provision of tailored reinforcements, so-called preforms. This art
icle compares the potential afforded by sewing technology in the manufactur
e of preforms with conventional preforming methods.
