Abstract
Abnormal uterine bleeding is a frequent cause of office visits. Wide variet ies of diagnostic tests, tools, and techniques are currently available to e valuate this problem. This article discusses benefits, indications, and lim itations of transvaginal ultrasound, saline infusion sonography, and an eme rging new use of MX imaging in the evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding. An algorithm is provided to streamline the evaluation. This article reviews the radiographic imaging and techniques available in the evaluation and cl inical management of menstrual disorders. Knowledge of and use of these mod alities can improve triage of patients, enhance understanding of the pathop hysiology of menstrual disturbances, and improve patient care.
