Abstract
[GRAPHICS] (-)-Shikimic acid, the key intermediate in the shikimate pathway in plants and microorganisms, has been synthesized in an enantioconvergent manner fro m both enantiomeric starting material by employing a palladium-mediated eli mination reaction as the key step.
