Abstract
A competitive learning algorithm for the parametric classification of Gauss ian sources is presented in this letter. The algorithm iteratively estimate s the mean and prior probability of each class during the training. Bayes r ule is then used for classification based on the estimated information. Sim ulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms Ic-means and L VQ algorithms for the parametric classification. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
