Hello HIPAA!

After four years, the wait is nearly over. The parade of final regulations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 19 96 is scheduled to begin this year and promises to impact everyone in healt hcare. But many physician practice groups and independent practitioners, fa ced with little infrastructure capital, multiple hospital affiliations and no dedicated CIO, may be left fending-and learning-for themselves.
