We have studied the transport of test particle ensembles moving in turbulen
t electrostatic fields governed by the Hasegawa-Mima (HM) equation. As a re
sult of the interplay of the linear dispersive term and the nonlinear term
in the HM equation. 'strange kinetics' emerge: the poloidal panicle transpo
rt undergoes a qualitative transition from diffusive, through supradiffusiv
e, to ballistic.
