Abstract
delta-Hydroxy-gamma-lactones and gamma-hydroxy-delta-lactones were synthesi zed from acyclic isoprenoid gamma,delta-epoxy esters in acid induced lacton ization. The reaction course was depended on the acidic agent applied. The mechanism of lactonization is presented.
