Abstract
Multi-ring aromatic diamines bearing a long alkyl chain (C-6, C-8 or C-16) were obtained from the corresponding dinitro compounds synthesized by a Fri edel-Crafts alkylation of substituted mesitylenes by paranitrobenzyl chlori de. The bismaleimide synthesized from the diamine bearing a C-16 chain form ed a thermostable polyimide. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights rese rved.
