Abstract
We studied the diffusion of atomic hydrogen in saturated He-3 (0.3 < T < 0.4 K) and He-4 (0.6 < T < 1.1 K) vapor. Using the Carr-Purcell-Mei boom-Gill spin echo method near zero field, we were able to measure th e diffusion coefficient for a wide range of temperatures and we could determine the diffusion cross section Q(D) at very low temperatures. Q (D) was observed to decrease with temperature in agreement with the ca lculation by Jochemsen et al.
