Abstract
The present work shows: an iron axe from I to V AD centuries. This piece be longs to an archaeological site from "La Olmeda" (Palencia, Spain) where se veral iron artifacts were found. The metallurgical characterisation of anci ent iron axe was performed using optical microscopy, SEM-EDX, XRD and hardn ess test. The data obtained show the fabrication procedure and the technolo gical knowledge of the roman society in "La Olmeda site.
