Abstract
Since 1945, theatre directors have been trying to resurrect Racine's forgot ten plays. As early as 1948, Marcelle Tassencourt gave a classical Alexandr e, but in 1987, Adel Hakim and Elisabeth Chailloux transfer it successfully to a modern India. La Thebaide was more often presented, after Marcelle Ta ssencourt and Thierry Maulnier. Jean-Claude Fall directed it for Silvia Mon fort in 1978 with great success, then the Comedie-Francaise in 1995 chose Y annis Kokkos to direct it, and his setting evoked both past and modern war landscapes.
