Abstract
1-Ethynyladamantane, (+/-)-2-endo-ethynyl-1,7,7-trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]hept an-2-exo-ol, 2-exo-ethynyl-5,5,6-trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-2-endo-ol, a nd 1-octadecyne were reacted with CuCl, [Ag(NH3)(2)] . NO3, and K-2[HgI4] t o prepare previously unknown copper, silver, and mercury acetylides. The si lver acetylides were shown to smoothly react with iodine to give iodoethyny l derivatives.
