D. Mishra et U. Sharma, Effect of solvents on extraction and carrier-facilitated transport of lithium ion by polyethylene glycols, RUSS J G CH, 69(11), 1999, pp. 1774-1776
The extraction and carrier-facilitated transport of lithium picrate, 2,4-di
nitrophenoxide, and 2-nitrophenoxide through bulk liquid membranes (chlorof
orm, methylene chloride, 1,2-dichloroethane, and carbon tetrachloride) were
studied using di-, tri-, and tetraethylene glycols as carriers. The sequen
ce of solvents observed for extraction and transport of the cations is as f
ollows: methylene chloride > 1,2-dichloroethane > chloroform > carbon tetra
chloride. Diethylene glycol proved to be the most efficient extractant and
carrier for transport of lithium ions.
