Synthesis of substituted bis(2-chloroethyl)amines with isocyanurate moieties

1,3-Disubstituted 5-(omega-bromoalkyl)hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-trione s were alkylated with bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amine to obtain [omega-(3,5-dially l-2,4,6-trioxohexahydro-1,3,5-triazin-1-yl)alkyl]bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amines and bis(2-hydroxyethyl) [omega-(3,5-dimethyl-2,4,6-trioxohexahydro-1,3,5-tr iazin-1-yl)alkyl] amine with the alkyl chains containing 2 to 6 methylene u nits. Treatment of the resulting (2-hydroxyethyl)amines with thionyl chlori de gave [omega-(3,5-diallyl-2,4,6-trioxohexahydro-1,3,5-triazin-1-yl)alkyl] bis(2-chloroethyl)amines and bis(2-chloroethyl) [omega-(3,5-dimethyl-2,4,6- trioxohexahydro-1,3,5-triazin-1-yl)alkyl]amines, respectively.
