Precipitation reaction of a sulfur alkaline solution with a silver complex
aqueous solution produces nanocrystalline Ag2S at room temperature under at
mospheric pressure. The product has been characterized through XRD, TEM and
XPS analysis. The results show that the sulfur alkaline solution makes Ag2
S crystallize well in aqueous solution. The silver complex as a reagent, re
lative to the silver ion, reduces the byproduct greatly. The synthesis proc
eeds rapidly and conveniently. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights re
