Abstract
It is shown that objective rates of objective and symmetric second order Eu lerian tensors should be corotational when one restricts to a single Euclid ean vector space. As a consequence, when we equalize Me objective strain ra te and the deformation rate, only the Hencky strain is a mathematically con sistent strain measure; and only the logarithmic rate is an admissible stra in rate.
